Wind Passes / Stone Closes / Lamp Burns
The mind relies on the Dharma, and the Dharma relies on renouncing the world,
renunciation relies on the cave, and the cave finally relies on death.
If a person steps one pace inward,
the cave is no longer desolation,
but a kind of clarity.
First Gate
Some keep silence, some keep the lamp,
and some give a lifetime to wind and stone.
Second Gate
Every practitioner is an independent cave.
Thresholds, mountain passes, ritual objects, faces and cushions
all slowly glow in the dark.
Third Gate
Every image is another doorway.
Look slowly.
Returning Wind
Traces
The rises and falls on paper are lighter than sound, and last longer.
